Matthew Shalhoub

Managing Partner

Matt co-founded and has been a Managing Partner of Green Acre Capital since inception. He spent the eight years prior to this managing venture capital backed companies. These roles involved a heavy focus on operations, business development, financings, and M&A transactions. He currently sits on the boards of Weekend Holdings, Ample Organics, and Humble + Fume, and previously sat on the board of Tokyo Smoke up until it merged with DOJA. He graduated early with honours from the University of Western Ontario, receiving an HBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business.

Tyler Stuart

Managing Partner

Tyler co-founded and has been a Managing Partner of Green Acre Capital since inception. Prior to this, he gained 18 years of investment banking and capital markets experience. Approximately 10 years of that was spent on the institutional sales desk of FirstEnergy Capital with a focus on private equity clientele and financings. Additionally, he spent three years in the investment banking group of an energy boutique dealer and two years at CIBC Wood Gundy in private client advisory. He graduated with honors from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Commerce in Finance.

 

W. Brett Wilson

Investment Committee

W. Brett Wilson is a career investment banker - as a co-founder of one of Canada’s leading energy focused investment banks - FirstEnergy Capital Corp. He evolved to merchant banking for his own account though his family office oriented Prairie Merchant Corp. He investment focus is wide - from an investment in the Nashville Predators - to farmland in Saskatchewan - from cannabis opportunities across North America to gas fired power generation in Alberta - from restaurants in Calgary and the Yukon to real estate across Western Canada - the range is large. His passion for supporting communities where he invests is well known and recognized through receipt of the Order of Canada (2011) and the Saskatchewan Order of Merit (2012) along with numerous other awards and honorary degrees. A passionate Canadian - he believes in the future of and is an advocate for responsible growth of our domestic energy industry.

Shawn Dym

Advisor

Shawn is a managing director at York Plains Investment Corp. He has been active in the Canadian cannabis sector for several years, as an early stage investor in Aphria and as an advisor to CanvasRx, the largest medical cannabis patient outreach service in Canada (which was recently acquired). Shawn is also the Executive Chairman of Humble & Fume.

 

Albert Soberano

Albert Soberano is Chairman of Sharno Group Inc., a privately-owned independent principal investment group and family office. Albert is an accomplished entrepreneur, investor and corporate executive with extensive experience in the areas of retail and manufacturing, real estate ownership and development, and corporate sales, marketing and promotions. Previously, Albert was the CEO of Y.M. Inc. (previously, Young Manufacturers), one of North America’s largest privately-owned apparel retailers, and led various high-profile M&A transactions in this role. Albert has extensive corporate governance experience and is an active philanthropist.
